letting go

i was told by my yogi therapist, who was 99 years old at the time, that if we ask "why?" we are asking the wrong question as sometimes there is no logical explanation as to why there is suffering in our lives and in the world...

i am unable to watch the media coverage of the events in haiti as my heart and being cannot hold that much pain... my heart is full and there is a feeling of helplessness... donating money does not assuage the pain...

in my yoga class today we recited the mantra 'lokaha samastaha sukhino bhavantu' - may all beings everywhere be happy and free from suffering and may our thoughts and actions contribute to that happiness and freedom from suffering for all beings...

what else can we do??

how tenacious we beings are, and how fragile... today's dance is a dance of opening and letting go... the torrential rain can be heard on the roof of the yurt... washing, flowing, releasing...

"Open up; let us see what's going on inside you... Please try to dance as freely as you can, listening attentively to the spirits living inside you." Kazuo Ohno - Maureen 'Momo' Freehill's sensei
